Question:
About two years ago I settled a Sprint PCS disputed charge of $150
for 120$ with a check over the phone with OSI Collection Agency
(phone number 1-800-283-5001). They said they had the purchased
the account from Sprint and that would settle the account for good,
unless I wanted to open a new Sprint account where I would pay the
remaining $30. But they mentioned there would be no reporting of
any kind if I had I paid the settlement, so I did.
Now two years later, I received another letter from a different
collection agency (Afni collection Agency Phone 1-866-633-4380) for
the $31. I called them after about a month and half and they said
they had already sent the account to my credit report, but if I paid
over the phone with a check they could have it erased?!!!
Is this possible?! Can a collection agency report me with just one
letter, and that of an old settled account, and then erase their
report if I paid them?
How can one collection agency claim to have bought and settled the
account, then another one show up two years later claiming another
piece of it?
I have tried contacting the original collector that the account was
settled with (OSI collection) but there is now just a recording to
leave a name and number for an agent to call back. I have a feeling
I won't be hearing back from them. I am completely
confused, am being taken for a ride here? Any insight would be greatly
appreciated.
Answer:
I doubt you are alone. Google the recent thread "Resolving Disputes"
Ignore Seppo and Vox Populi. sillyness, and you'll might appreciate
part of what Sprint's game is.
As far as I'm concerned, Sprint is on its way to becoming
a world class extortion racket. Write a letter to the US Attorney
and your State's Attorney Gen. Provide documentation.
Contrary to what Sprint or its collection agencies would
have you believe, your testimony IS evidence.
And Nobody believes Sprint credit reports anymore.
So Go get em Ben.
