The end result is me thinking that the bill was paid and in reality, a collection agency was contacted

Question:
I have excellent medical coverage through my husband's employer. I have no problem with them, they pay quickly, almost everything is covered and we can see just about any doctor that we choose. NO complaints whatsoever. For some reason though, labs seem to have a problem with whom to bill and about 3 times, 3 different labs have sent our bills to the wrong insurance company or had some other type of problem. The end result is me thinking that the bill was paid and in reality, a collection agency was contacted. Here's the rant... The people, every single one that I have dealt with, are SO DAMN SNOTTY, rude, unable to listen to what I have to say and SARCASTIC! It is so frustrating being that I pay my bills, I take care of everything responsibly. They can tell me what they have to say without the TONE, without the ATTITUDE and without the disrespect that they so easily transmit. I just dealt with a Mr. Snothead and asked for his superivsor's name. First I called the lab to see the status of the bill (which she stated was paid in full!!!) I told her abou the guy on the phone and she said that she has yet to talk with that collection agency when there was not a major attitude. At any rate, the paid in full statement is being faxed to Mr. Snotty and hopefully I won't be speaking to him again. I am going to be calling Mr. Snotty's supervisor though...Perhaps they need to know...or perhaps it's a requirement of the job? Okay...rant over. Off to tread and release my frustration

Answer:
-It's got to be a requirement of the job. To work collections, you must be an asshole. We've dealt with a few collection agencies (mostly thanks to my mother, which I won't go into here), and believe me, they were all impossible to deal with.

-This is how I always looked at it - These people get treated so badly by the people they have to call, it's unbelievable. Think about it Jadelee - they make a living asking for money from people who borrow money and don't pay it back. 95% of the people they call are rude, low-class dirtbags. That means, the remaining 5% who are good people with a mixup (like you) get lumped in with the majority. You also have to realize they are making probably 7 bucks an hour, so you're not getting any type of person who gives a shit about job performance.
