Question:
I just almost gagged on my donut, when I read that: The IRS
has reversed its heretofore failed policy of allowing
private colflectioin agencies to collect delinquent taxes.
(I understand that previously 53rd cases were turned over
when collections were doubtful) The article written in a
major financial paper, said that there is over 24 billion
dollars due the agency, and that therefore a substantial DAR
(my term), will be turned over to large collection agencies.
Does anyone know anything about the above?
If true, will collection consist mainly of
offer-in-compromise groups in the Milleniuum, with everyone
else looking for jobs in Audit or CID, or heaven forbid,
private industry?
Does this mean that 668Bs are out and 656s are in, in the
future?
Answer:
-Where did you read this? Sounds like the IRS Collection
Fucntion is getting ready for another round of bashing.
Many of the Revenue Officers who believe the agency will
eventually go back to hard-core collection tactis will
probably be looking for that early-out deal I hear Congress
is considering.
